cruise control again
#1
Well through advise from a member I took my 2014.16 hdi to a citroen main dealer to have my newly fitted cc stalk enabled.
the lad spent an hour and a half trying diagbox , lexia and aftermarket software to make it work.
the cruise is now recognised by car but the ECU software is just greyed out  and saying ABSENT.
The stalk is supposed to be a genuine used part but could this be the issue and Ive been sold a chinese copy???.
The citroen lad said they had programmed dozens of picassos etc and no issues, he was wondering if it was becuse the car was newer and that citroen were trying to stop aftermarket or aftersale fitting.
Please can someone help

Hey Buzarpy

I have just fitted cruise control to my hdi Berlingo. I had exactly the same problem (except I found someone on line with lexia, avoiding Citroen) and it did the same.

Turns out my new Chinese after market stalk was faulty/non existent. I bought a second hand genuine Citroen stalk, plugged it in and never looked back. Works like a dream. Maybe they sold you a used Chinese copy?

I have heard of others doing the same. Not sure if it always the case but my second hand stalk was £20 delivered so has to be worth a punt?

Cheers

Neil

Lots of people have tried new stalks cheap online, they never ever work as the Chinese don't seem to realise, the stalk transmits CANBUS messages in the Citroen and the fakes don't send the correct data.

Stick to used real ones and you'll have no issues.

I was supposed to have bought a second hand original from a local autoparts company via eBay.
It did come with the right part number on it

Ok. Sounds like yours should have worked. Do you have a clutch switch fitted?

Diagbox should have an 'actuator test' section where you can check the operation of things like the CC stalk buttons and maybe the pedal switches. I know that Lexia does, so am assuming that Diagbox will have too.

You're right, it does. Main things that would stop a cruise stalk activating is no clutch switch, faulty brake light switch or an abs fault already lit on the car.

The stalk works to a degree, it displays on dash and the limiter adjusts up and down but the ECU does not see it.
Does a Chinese one act in the same manner

Ok, hold up

The limiter function even on a genuine one, only works if you have the correct accelerator pedal marked LV VD for "voluntary speed limiter right hand drive" (in French) but the standard pedal is marked D for right hand drive (Droite) and only supports the cruise function. The limit switch will do nothing with the standard pedal, and all it does do with the correct pedal is to allow you to set an upper limit that the car will not exceed - separate from the cruise function.

The cruise function on the other hand, works on all pedals and holds the current speed unless you turn it off, or touch the brake or clutch.

Are you saying cruise works, and limit doesn't?

Limiter is nothing to do with cruise at all, both functions are unique and separate.

OK
The Citroën lad has enabled the stalk in the BSI settings so it appears like it would work.
However he could not enable the stalk in the ECU , it just says in grey ABSENT hence why The car doesn't obviously do what it should.
He reckons as my car is a late 2014 they might have blocked it in the ecu programming.
2 questions
1. Has anyone out there had a stalk fit to a car the same age as mine.?
2. Is it possible it says absent because the car part people have given me a Chinese one.
Or a wrong genuine?
