I have to say that there are some good Chinese sellers, and some good Chinese products. Trouble is finding them amongst all the junk!
I suppose it's a bit like investing or gambling (same thing) - don't bid more than you can afford to lose.
At the end of the day, eBay and Amazon are online market places - and would any of us buy an electric toaster off a market stall?

I hsve bought from chinese ebayers quite a few times. There are a couple of things to look out for, though.
Sellers with low number of feedback(less than 1000) that has less than 99% positive. These may suddenly disappear.
Sellers with low numbers of feedback, and alrge number of auctions/sales going on. Most likely he just 'recreated himself' to avoid a bad feedback.
They prefer to 'start over' instead of fixing the issues. And when they do start over, they just abandon their customers.
Most Sellers will fix an issue if you just message them and not start anything 'official' on eBay.
(They really don't want to get that negative feedback... )
Absolutely NEVER buy memory cards from China.
there's even odds that the controller has been hacked to report a larger storage chip than it really has.
High-capacity rechargeables such a 8000mAh 18650 Li-ion cells? yeah, right...
Not only is the label pure fantasy, but on some batteries the buyer has later found that it's a small cell inside an aluminium tube...
Resin cast miniatures... (I collect and paint miniatures)
If it comes from China it's an illegal recast. Simple as that.
There WAS a miniature studio in Taiwan that was legit. They gave up. Anything they made was recast by pirates within weeks.
If it can be faked or pirated, it's even odds that you can buy it from China.

Its not only the sellers on Ebay that can be rude ! Ebay itself has got to be watched.
I sent back to the seller a cruise control (chinese) that didnt communicate and paid for return postage through my click and drop royal mail account. Easiest way as I didn't have to go to the nearest P.O. and a Royal Mail depot is across the road.
When the money came it was short of the postage £5 +, so on to the seller and got a reply that all the money was paid.
Got on to ebay and asked them to recover the postage . It turned out the seller had paid the postage to ebay and ebay kept it .
Asking for my postage money, ebay eventually paid it into a dormant paypal acc . As the account needed re-validating I couldn't access it with the landline number associated with the account. Seemily you need a mobile number now for a paypal account, landline numbers dont work , so they said.
Took three weeks to recover the monies after three contacts with the paypal helpline speaking to a non native english speaker. When asking Ebay why the postage was paid into a different paypal account from the refund monies, it was a stock answer "That's the account registered to you. " yes about 6 years ago. Brickwalled me then and they still dont answer emails. Be wary of Ebay
The seller was quite good about it all and seemed to me to be genuine enough , even though his base was in China his address was Holland. (Germany really)

An update. I refused the 50% offer; they countered with a slightly better offer (around 60%) - I think they were trying to refund item cost but not shipping. I refused again, and asked eBay to step in, as they put it, demanding 100%. They promised to review my case within 24 hours, but then replied about 3 mins later with the news that they (eBay) had given me a 100% refund. On checking Paypal, they had indeed.

I do have to agree with Brodfather in principle though; some time ago I asked the seller of an electric recliner if they could arrange del for a specific day at my mum's home, timed for a visit I was planning so I could set it up for her, and they agreed. This date was over a month in the future so I placed an order on that basis.
The chair didn't arrive on the day. Effectively ruined the visit, as mum was loking forward to it and we had rearranged her living room for it. The seller's phone didn't answer. When I got home a few days later I claimed a refund through eBay, but they refused because I had claimed too long after the agreed delivery date - but they were calculating that from the standard 'del day after ordering date', not the del date a month later as I had agreed with the seller.

Hmm, yes I didn't think of that at the time. Unfortunately it was a couple of years ago now. We live and learn.
