Curious whether anyone else has experienced the following with the stop start system?
Bought the car (2020 1.5 Blue HDi 130 XTR) new in January. Stop start was working fine until over the summer I noticed it stopped working. Every time I stopped the green stop start light on the dashboard would flick on for 5-10 seconds before going out and the engine would keep running throughout.
Wasn't particularly bothered, thought I would just report it at first service next January. However after updating the touch screen software a couple of weeks ago, it suddenly started working again. Can't think that the two were linked but that was the only thing different.
However in the last week it has been operating very intermittently. For example yesterday it wouldn't work, and green light again flashed on momentarily each time I stopped. I drove into town this morning however and it functioned fine. Whether it works or not does not seem to be a function of how far it had been driven beforehand.
As I say will report it at the next service but it just seems strange. Anyone else had this ?

Hi,
I've previously had the same issue on two Citroens and in both cases, a new vehicle battery solved the problem. I realise your car is "new". Mine were ok until Winter arrived, then seemed to get worse. I believe Stop/Start only works properly when certain conditions are met and am guessing the battery condition must be a factor in there somewhere.
Don't forget to make sure you have/buy a "Stop/Start" battery, not an ordinary one, it won't last otherwise.
I reckon Stop/Start was invented by a company that makes starter motors!
Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement…

Cheers for that Zion - could be maintaining cabin temp I suppose - the link does mention the flash of the stop/start light.
Thanks

No worries mate, yeah it seems any time the engine is required to be on for any reason, like heating, battery charging, battery health etc then start-stop is suspended.

Wrong battery makes sense, but if you look for my comments today and previous it is also possible the generator is not spinning enough.
Now I know I could drive the car 2500/3000 rpm all the things me BUT my current 57mpg would likely be 47mpg, so nagging the potential fuel savings of the S&S .
Can anyone advise IF with this fault they have received a new battery?

PS does anyone with the faulty S&S also get the too early mileage error eg mine is saying I need a service in 300 miles or a year- service actually due end July 2021 have done 10,100 in 18 months 4000 since last service.
PS with the non functioning S&S ONLY once has the green S&S warning NOT come on and that was 1 time 5 mins after start on the coldest day late 2020.
SO I believe the system is correct, the conditions, thing many seem not to be the issue either the battery- but my previous comment n the S&S working my almost immediately at sub 0C temperatures
