I was wondering if anyone has tried to add sound proofing to the latest shape Berlingo / Rifter / Combo life?
As it shares a lot of the interior panels with the previous shape Berlingo/Partner is it straightforward?
The reason I ask is I got chatting a van owner of a Berlingo this week at the motorway services who said he had DIY some sound proofing on his van and it vastly improved the noise inside the van on the motorway, I just forgot to ask him how he went about it!
Grateful if anyone has any advice on where to start? And how easy is it to lift the floor carpet and remove the various internal panels?

Interesting stuff, will be good to know how others have done it.

I'm planning to insulate my M59 one day - the road noise is harsh on motorways. One tip I came across in researching it, no idea if it's good or not, is that there's no need to fully cover a panel with insulation - for example just one square of it in the middle of a door panel will be very nearly as effective as covering all of it.
A possible headache which comes to mind is insulating the roof - means removing the headlining. I'm no Edd China!
Remember that vans are in essence empty bare metal boxes and will be vastly improved by sound-deadening and/or a bulkhead, while MPVs are not quite as tinny in the first place.

I did some sound proofing on the M59. I used Noico 80mil. It pretty good, quite heavy material and it does a good job. A bit difficult to spread it with a flattening tool when the temperature is low, I did it at ~10C, just takes more time and effort.
The Noico 80mil is more of a sound deadening than sound proofing ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00URUIKAK). I have not done the whole car, mainly the doors, rear tailgate and back floor. There was nothing before, no sound proofing no sound deadening, only a small piece on the rear tailgate on two particular points. It is not as noisy, but the whole cab needs to be done.

The biggest difference I got was from sticking sound deadening foam to the main roof panel sections, between the strengthening ribs - makes a huge improvement.

I have seen it recommended many times.
The stuff I bought after a bit of checking out (to make sure it wasn't the usual eBay cheapo stuff) was https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252376923692. Also has good reviews IIRC.

Ah, thanks for that! I thought it couldn't be done in the cold at all.

Did you remove and replace the headlining? Must have been a pain.
I was thinking of injecting or squirting fire-retardant foam through the headlining, using boards to stop it bulging downwards while the foam set.

On the outside metal (inside of the door) I used the noico 80, but on the inside of the plastic covers for the doors (cowling) I used something similar to yours ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XHYZLMD), but the glue is not as strong as compared to the noico. I wanted to achieve a bit more pleasing sound when closing the doors and not to sound too much like a tin can.
For the noico, if it is warmer it is better, one can spread it easily, otherwise it takes a lot of time with a small hammer-like spreading tool to flatten it according to different shapes, say on the ribs at the back floor.
One has to bear in mind that the noico is really heavy. If you cover a substantial proportion of the cabin it will add to the overall weight. I had to upgrade the tailgate struts so they can lift the increased weight of the tailgate.

Yes, the stuff I bought weighs a ton too! I was wondering about filling in the channels in the floor to level it up; will decide when I do it.
Good point about the struts.
