The next big thing on the list is the electronics. The wiring diagram for the engine was broadly available. The wiring for the Berlingo seems to be a lot harder. Any pointers where to look?
You could buy a copy of ServiceBox on eBay, for under 10 Euros, it comes as a 20gB download and runs as a virtual machine in VM player. Very useful and has all the diagrams you could ever need.
You can't search by vin, but all models from 1993 to 2016 or very similar are in there. You would have access to all the information you could want.

Which year is that Berlingo, and which engine?
Does it have LCD gauges or old dial gauges?
It's from August 1999, 1.8i; it has the old dial gauges and a small clock in the revcounter.

I have to check this. Can't seem to find it immediatly tho. Wasn't too keen on this, because I don't have a windows laptop. The fact that it's VM makes it easier.

Meanwhile I got hold of a VM with the Peugeot SEDRE, the only question now is if the wiring on the Partner is exactly the same as on the Berlingo?

The wiring should be the same... Should...
August 1999. It might be a 2000 model, but let's hope not.
On Pre-2000 models the central locking is a separate unit. The controller is behind the wall panel next to the rear passenger seat, on the driver's side.
In the 2000-equipped it was included in the BSI, or what is now known as the BSI.
Analog gauges means the speedo works with a signal from the gearbox.
I assume that the original gearbox isn't going to work with the new motor, so hopefully, the replacement has a similar sensor. But I expect it to have a proper wire spinning in a sleeve.
(My 1984 CX had that)
You may want to ask if you can get the instrument binnacle from the donor car.

Afaik the bsi was introduced in the 2001 model year, in combination with the LCD odometer.
The speedo works from a sensor on the gearbox says the wiring diagram from SB, same way as the V6 engine. Should work I guess.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Servi...890.l49292 Maybe safest way to get a citroen version, so the wiring is correct. Apparently you gotta search on the British eBay, not the Belgian one.
Thanks for the links.

Ah no problems. This is probably because you drive on the wrong side of the road, so only countries using the correct side, have the required items in eBay!

Hah sure.
Gonna check the wiring on the Berlingo a bit tomorrow. I don't have the place at the moment to pull the engine right now so that's something that's gonna have to wait for a month or so I guess.
What's left on the list:
- Switch PAS pump from XU7 to ES9 if possible, otherwise finding a Pug 406 one
- Switch alternator from XU7 or refurb from ES9 (very dirty from being underneath a leaking oil pump for years)
- Get the XU7 and gearbox out of the chassis
- Wiring the engine to the chassis
- Making subframe changes
- Make an engine mount (top left)
- Convert clutch pedal (have got the XM hydraulic one)
- Fit the shift lever in the chassis (have got the XM one)
- Find drive shafts and find someone who can shorten them
- Fab exhaust
I think that's about it?
