BSI Reset Needed?
#1
Hello All - just had a new battery fitted by KwikFit in my 65 reg 1.6 Deisel (£!!). I've been reading a lot about a BSI reset. If everything seems ok on the instrument panel, do I need it done? Should I assume they knew what they were doing?

Thanks!

I guess not if everything is working. As long as the car was shut off for more than 3 mins with the doors closed before the battery was disconnected, it will usually be fine.

The reset does no harm, there are YouTube vids showing how to do it but you should be fine if nothing is acting up.

Well, as you've survived having KwikFit work on your car without ruining it (previous bitter, personal experience!), then most likely the worst of the danger is over. I've only ever needed to do a BSI reset following a battery swap when it was a stop/start battery of a higher capacity than the original and I hadn't been certain whether it was necessary, so it was just to be sure.

If nothing is obviously wrong, assume all is well, as Zion suggested.

I haven't done one on mine and the battery was changed on Boxing day, All's still working fine.
I did however pop the bonnet and left the car sitting for 30mins before I did anything as many post on here said give the vehicle time to shut down before doing anything.

Kwik Fit did the battery on my first Berlingo and I seem to recall at the time the fitter mentioning how they have to reset the car for stop start systems so I would assume they know what they are doing.
