1.2 pure tech - which version?

Due to cam belt failures with the 1.2 puretech petrol engine, it has now had 3 revisions. 


Version 1 - the belt degrades and cracks across the width throughout the whole belt and fails. 
Identifiable by being a smooth black finish 
Version 2 - the belt was slightly too wide for the pulleys and as such over time the belt frays on the edges causing debris from the belt as it deteriorates to block the oil ways of the engine leading to failure most commonly solenoid failure. 
The dealers have a number of technical bulletins about this issue and are under strict others to use the exact oil; any vehicles not serviced by the main dealership network that end up requiring a new engine even within the warranty period will not get any good will gesture from Peugeot/Citroen/Vauxhall unless they can categorically prove the correct oil and quantity were used at the service. 
Even if your engine fails within the warranty period and has been serviced at the correct intervals there has been some push back from Peugeot / Citroen / Vauxhall from paying out full costs for an engine replacement instead only offering good will gestures. 
Identifiable by having a textured finish in contrast to version 1.
Version 3 - the most current version of this engine being fitted with a different belt with no known problems to date. 


My question is, does anyone know the date or the build numbers for when each version of this engine was produced? 

It would be helpful for owners of this engine to find out which version they have.

Hi,
Version 2 of this engine came into production iron from 2016

Version 2 is far less problematic than the original belt but still can have issues

Still unable to get any info from Peugeot or Citroen regarding the build date of version 3 engines

Citroen expert reckons he has seen version 3 on 68 plate cars .
If that is the case then it’s likely the Berlingo / Rifter and Combo Life all have the current and latest version of this engine.

A version 4 will be in production later this year!

They have given up on belts and gone back to a chain with this engine.

So if you order a 2022 built Citroen / Peugeot / Opel / Vauxhall with the 1.2 puretech it will have the new chain and not a belt.

Trying to find out if the new C4 1.2 puretech will have the chain, dealer unable to confirm but states as soon as it’s in production for any car it will be rolled out to every vehicle.

No, they have stopped taking orders for petrol Berlingos at the beginning of the year, but there are still orders from the last year in production (including mine ?).

Here in Poland you can still order petrol Berlingo, but only with N1 homologation that has a fence after R2 (like https://tekdeeps.com/test-citroen-berlin...hdi-100-n1). Toyota still takes orders for Proace City Verso which is basically the same car.

My Peugeot dealer suggested it’s next to replace the belt at 3 years old when the warranty runs out!

How can a belt only last 3 years!
