Hey, yes it was a faulty EGR valve I believe. Attached a blanking plate to test it and it ran like a Swiss watch. Bought a replacement valve and hopefully that’ll cure it. Could leave the plate in but don’t want to affect emissions. Will just keep on top of it to keep it clean.
I also checked my injectors for tightness after I knew it was the EGR, 3 of the 4 were loose(ish) so I tightened them up. Seems a common problem.
As for additive, Lucas injector cleaner is the best one I know of, my thoughts are they can’t hurt even if they aren’t the miracle cure they advertise. The reviews for Lucas were pretty incredible though that’s why I gave it a punt. Hope that helps.
