D/s sliding door wont lock
#1
Hi

Have just bought a 2008 First multispace -and in a moment of madness didn't get it checked by an independent mechanic beforehand doh!
I only have a basic key - no fob.
Got it home and realised not only central locking not working( asuming it came with central locking) - have to lock each door individually, and that the d/s sliding door wont lock at all, not even with child lock - as this wont stay down..

Any ideas if this is going to be an expensive fix?

Thanks

Does the key have buttons on it? Maybe it has no central locking.

The key it came with didn't have buttons on it - only had one, so had asked the dealer to get a spare one made but now find this doesn't unlock the doors but does start the car! As seems i may have bought a dud I had a clickmechanic come and have a look ( I know nuts to do it after buying it - think I was a bit Christmas Crackers at the time I bought it ) and he said it was showing as central locking on the diagnostic tool, and he could hear something but nothing happened....

Thanks

If the keys you have fit all of the door locks, that would be a good start. The driver's door usually triggers locking or unlocking the rest but if one lock is stuck then the central locking function will retract each time you try to lock it from the central point.

You should hear the solenoids trying when you turn the keys to the lock position on the driver's door. I'd check the mechanism on the door that won't lock (sliding door) as it may be stopping the rest from locking.

Also the CL fuse could be blown. It's fuse F2 in the inside fuses (in the dashboard) it's the far left fuse.

I've attached the fuse box guide.

when you say child lock do you mean the button on the dash?

thanks

It looks as though someone has tried to force the sliding door at some point as on closer inspection it is not closing fully flush at the top and so suspect this may have damaged the mechanical aspect of the lock - not sure I can hear sound of the solenoids - I can hear the lock knob moving up and down - but not sure if this is the solenoids - sorry to be an idiot.
Also realised its the passenger side sliding door. The driver side sliding door only locks with the child lock activated from the inside.
thanks for any more advice

One thing that it could be now you say it may have been forced. There is an interlock on the fuel cap recess so that when the cap is off you cannot open the offside passenger door. The previous owner may have not known this and tried to force the door breaking the lock. Check the fuel cap recess for the button to see it hasnt been broken off.
Are we there yet????? Huh

No the slide up lock on the inside of the sliding door. Is htis the only way to lock the sliding doors usually?

No they should just lock when you lock the car.  Child lock should just stop the door being opened from the inside.

Hi. Mine also only has plain keys (came with one, had a second one cut). If I use the key in the driver's door, it locks or unlocks all the doors and tailgate. If I try to lock them but one is not properly closed, I can hear the locks locking and then unlocking again about a second later, i.e. two 'clunks'. This tells me that one door isn't closed properly.

If I use the key in the nsf door it only locks/unlocks that door; same with the lock in the tailgate. Only the driver's door lock operates all the locks.

If you can't operate the child lock lever in your sliding door then something isn't aligned properly; this could mean that door isn't properly closed and so your central locking can't stay locked. That is, if your setup is like mine.
