Roof rack / sheet material
#1
Hi,
I need a roof rack that has the ability to transport sheet building material (8x4 plywood  mdf etc). I like the look of the rhino type cage roof rack, but was wondering if a bike mount could be fixed to one of these as they could be yo a normal roof rack system.
Also, the cage type system is generally sold for berlingo 'vans', are the fixing points for these the case as for a multispace 2015?
Many thanks

MSpace car and Vans have identical fixing points on all B9s.

Rhino Cage Racks are great.  I had one on my VW Transporter.  The only thing I note for the Berlingo with tailgate rather than barn doors is that the inside length of the rack is only 2.2m so if you pop on a 2.4m sheet you will either nurf the aerial at the front or not be able to fully open the tailgate at the rear.

Not had a Rhino rack but do have Citroens own cage type rack on my M59, won't take an 8 x 4 sheet without hanging it out of the side slightly. I have a stub aerial so no problems at the front.
I have had Halfords bike carriers on it using U bolts in the past with no problems.
It replaced Citroens own crossbars which needed tightening constantly both when loaded and unloaded. Even so I once lost 3 bikes on the bars at 50mph when on holiday!

The rectangular section Thule bars (Thule EVO squarebars) that fit on the multi-space roof rails sit high enough and are wide enough to carry 8 x 4ft sheets fastened with luggage straps. On my previous (2010) XTR i needed to rotate the aerial down toward the roof, on the current (2016) XTR the stubby DAB aerial can stay exactly where it is. Obviously these roof bars will also carry a bike carrier if needed.

Unfortunately not as bought it secondhand about 10 years ago.
About that time I drove a Partner in SW France that had a new one (about 450 Euros) thrown on but the guy hadn't bothered to fit the aerofoil plate on and you couldn't hear a conversation due to the wind noise. I had to take it off to fit it and it convinced me to buy my own.
They do come up on eBay etc sometimes. Indeed there are 2 on eBay today.
