[Filters & Oil] 2004 1.6 petrol - two oil filter options
#1
Sorry if this has been asked already (I searched!) or is obvious.

I'm going to do an oil/filter change on my 2004 1.6 petrol multispace desire. When searching for the correct filter for this year two options come up.

First:

https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/crosland-...-501660118
Filter TypeFilter Insert
Height mm69
Inner Diameter mm29
Outer Diameter mm64
Date From07/2004
Other InformationOrg No From10073

Second:

https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/crosland-...-501735058
Filter TypeFilter Insert
Height mm141
Inner Diameter mm22
Outer Diameter mm59
Date To06/2004
Other InformationOrg No To10072

How do I work out which one is the correct one for me?

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to the forum.

I think the clue is in the Org or RPO number which is shown in the description of the filters.
I can't remember exactly where the RPO / Org number is shown but it's on the driver's door pillar somewhere IIRC. If you do a bit of digging, you'll find out where & how the RPO number is shown. There are RPO decoders which will tell you the manufacturing date so you can compare that with your V5 or Reg.
You can cross reference the part description with the GSF web site too.

The second number on the door sticker that has two letters on the end, are your RPO number (don't enter the numbers on the checker, they're the manufacturing plant code). The first set of numbers are to be ignored.

For the TU5JP4 engine the second one looks as the right one, but no PSA partnumber is given. The PSA number is 1109.R7. This is the right one for a oil filter house with a hexagon on the top.

I always use Purflux L310A .

I have a TU5JP4 and the filter is the first option, i.e. without the plunger, but the engine is 2008. They probably changed it sometime before 2008.

Buy both and return the one you don't need, auto factors are used to this practice.

Thanks everyone, I think I've sorted it out.

Awkwardly the two sets of numbers (those without the manufacturing plant letters and those with) were both, just, on either side of the ORG cut-off on Europarts. I used an ORG decoder to double check, and got a manufacturing data in 2003 for the first set (with the letters), so I guess that's the one to go for.

Thanks again for your help!
