New EGR clamp... how tight should it be?
#1
Hi guys, I’ve just serviced my EGR valve and I bought a new Allen key clamp to save mucking around with the clic-r clamp every time I want to clean it.

I bought the attached clamp of eBay and it goes round it very well, and connects the EGR to the small Intercooler next to it.

But when it’s tightened to its absolute maximum I can stil swivel it round by hand, it’s not hanging if down but it’s by no means tight.

My question is... does this need to be tight or is the purpose to lock the two components together with the v groove and if it’s done up they won’t come apart?

I’m guessing it should be tight but would appreciate your thoughts.

I mean you certainly couldn’t slide it left or right but it does swivel round

That is the same clamp that Citroen atre now selling for the M59. I bet yours was a lot cheaper.

Mine has tightened up OK and does not move.

Ok thanks for your thoughts..yeah it wasn’t a bad price but still £10 for a clip! it’s just so annoying I’ve waited to get this part now I’ve gotta wait until the genuine part arrives. Anyone else have thoughts on how tight it needs to be?

Tight, so it does not move. I do mine as tight as I can without breaking it.
