Better off with B3 than C2 oil without DPF?
#1
Need to buy some engine oil and as my Berlingo does not have a DPF are you better off with a B3 than a C2/C3 spec oil?

Thanks

I think as long as it's fully synthetic it's fine. Others may have different opinions.

The stipulation for DPF vehicles is low ash / saps oil which won't matter in your case regards a DPF, but the turbo is fussy about low coke oils anyway.

I would recommend changing the oil on the 1.6 hdi engine every 6k despite what the manufactures say, they haven't got the longevity of your engine in mind.

The top of the range oils recommended by the manufactures are specified in most cases because of the service intervals they adhere to, there seems little point in paying a premium for extended drain interval oil if you are going to be changing your oil at half or less of the recommended interval.
Clean fresh oil is better than dirty long life oil no matter what the marketing hype tells you.

A 5w-40 semi or fully synthetic oil would be my recommendation for your engine.

Check out Euro car parts Triple QX Fully Syn 5W-40 A3/B4  5ltr  for £18.89 with their current discount code,  that's what I use and would recommend for you.
