Hi all,
I have owned numerous 1.9d dw8b vans and find them to be simple and bulletproof so this has me stumped
All previous vans engine temps ran 80 degrees with hardly any smoke on acceleration and 550 miles to a tank
This van is down on power, acceleration and feels restricted compared to others and 480 miles to a tank
To clarify this is a Lucas pump with electronic advance
My initial thoughts were running slightly retarded hence smoke on acceleration unburnt fuel and runs slightly hotter along with engine note quieter than others.
I am a capable diy mechanic and have been using lexia (very easy to use) since owning this van but struggling to find live data to compare with mine
I have exhausted my searches on google, forums etc so asking for help on here
Story so far....
Van has no faults on any ecu’s bsi injection etc
Can starts perfectly and idles perfectly 950rpm while post heating(due to electrical load from glow plugs on for 3 mins after startup) then at 1000rpm until waxstat warms up and idles at 900rpm
I have tweaked maximum fuel screw just a few degrees (maybe 2 mm) which has resulted in a better top end speed but takes so long to get there
All filters changed Bosch
New glow pugs (genuine)
Removed intake cleaned
EGR cleaned but was like new , disconnected (Removed throttle swirl flap and egr in closed position no gasses are entering manifold)
New cat and exhaust
New battery
The van has only done 50,000 miles so is like new
Lexia session
All injection actuators functions are normal, advance solenoid buzz etc
The live readings I have posted in pics attached
The advance requested and retuned are the same while driving but was wondering what the correct data should be maybe higher readings and if somebody maybe was able to check on their van to cross reference at idle and at speed
What is Flow information as it says 0 mm3/c at idle?
If somebody with experience can run their trained eye over live data I would be Very grateful.
I know the van is off as a few weeks ago the engine sound changed, slight pump clatter I used to hear on my old vans which i knew the pump was in a more advanced state as the van flew and acceleration was great then it returned to this lethargic state
It is quiet compared to my other vans so that’s got me thinking it’s retarded
I Will check timing belt but that would not account for the change in advanced pump state I experienced a while ago and returned to sluggish. If timing was out it would be constant.
Is the pump hub adjustable by undoing the 3 bolts and rotating pulley as I don’t think I can rotate the pump itself with bolts holding it in like a distributor
Also if I disconnect tdc or lift sensor the engine note changes to a clatter so I know they are good confirmed by Lexia
Its frustrating as I know how nippy these vans can be when you have them running great and are great on fuel.
Any help much appreciated
Regards
