Which headunits will work with the Steering Column stalk?
#1
Hi All,

as subject really - I love our 04 plate 2.0HDI, but despite new speakers, the standard stereo headunit is a pile of the proverbial. I'd like to get a new (or good s/h ) headunit and cable that will work with the steering column stalk. I already have access to a Lexia to do the neccessary with that - I just need to know what models - and adaptor cables, will fit the car. I have seen some model numbers on the forum already but I can't remember them, and I can't find them again either!

thanks for your help!

Essentially any head unit that supports remote control can be used. Halfords etc near you? If so, go and have a look or use our old friend Google.
If it has the socket at the rear for remote input you can buy an adaptor for it

Ebay....
Seems to be the font of all knowledge and bargains.
As predictable as Google is for searching.
Sure the word 'ebay' will be in the Oxford English Dictionary soon.
(If it isn't already?)
And there are some cheap OED on ebay, too.

I'll have a look-see. Thanks. I know *nothing* about ICE. I can fit a headunit and speakers. That's it. I could do it in the days before ISO connectors and wire them into a car that had nothing at all in it. I know nothing about specs, remote control etc as nearly all the cars I've replaced the stereos in have been utter tat without such things, so it's a whole new thing to me.

I fitted this one:

pioneer

Good make and good unit and half price.

Can be run off the steering although I never bothered as the adaptor was a further £30 or so.

Just fitted a Sony head unit in my 54 plate straight swap over from old unit apart from swapping the red and yellow wires round so it keeps the presets for the radio stations no need for iso wires adapter as it is already a iso plug in the blingo 5 minutes from start to finish and up and running ...

Could you let me know the model number please? Smile
