Berlingl0w - B9 Berlingo Lowered on 19’s
#91
The custom shortened springs have arrived back from Alpha Springs. These were the original van springs, sent away, blasted, modified 60mm shorter, powder coated and posted back to me. I’ve just measured them and they are exactly 60mm shorter, a really great job done. It cost me £20 to post the springs to them, they charged £100 plus vat (£120) to blast, shorten, paint and post back. Other quotes were £70 a spring plus vat so to turn around for £140 I think these guys are mega reasonable. Now to get them in the Blingo! Hold tight!

Cool. Are the coils tighter together or the same as they were but just shorter?

I believe the fronts were chopped to shorten as they are open ended springs. The rears I think had a small section cut out the end and then compressed to meet the 60mm.

I’ve no idea how they are going to pan out in the van, I’ve not seen/heard of anyone modifying the standard springs like this, only folk that have compressed the 20/40s to get 60/60.

Time will tell... Big Grin

The new (to me) Peugeot 207 Leather steering wheel arrived. It really is in immaculate condition, a credit to the previous owner(s). This one in particular came from a 207 CC (coupe convertible) and is a direct swap for the Van, even swapping the Citroen air bag from the van wheel into the Peugeot wheel. I’m looking forward to getting it installed, maybe this weekend.

If anyone is interested in completing this modification, there’s loads of steering wheels on eBay and here’s a great and detailed video of the wheel swap on YouTube.

The snow has dispersed and Berlingl0w has been washed. Time to get her down to the garage, whip out the 40/20’s and see how these custom 60’s are going to work out! Hold Tight!

Looking forward to seeing that mate.

Btw, does that 207 wheel feel a lot nicer in the hand when fitted? I've been watching some for ages - haven't gone ahead yet as waiting on a nice one that's not ridiculously expensive comes up. There are cheap ones but they're scabby.

why don't you fit a 3008 one? it's a lot nicer!

This is a 3008 wheel and I think the 207 looks better, plus the airbag fits the 207 and I don't fancy a pug badge on the steering wheel.

That's a 5008 wheel. Well in eBay for 3008 I get loads like the one I posted. For 5008 it seems a mix of the same wheel and the one you have. How much was that wheel?

I think the 3008 and 5008 are actually the same now I look further but the flat bottom one is later (from same year as my van) but much more expensive and hard to find with the airbag. And the B9 airbag doesn't fit so you're stuck with the Peugeot badge. Not a good look on a Citroen.
