[Brakes] handbreak fault

hello!
i have a CITROEN BERL-LA 2011 van

my handbreak is very loose, and i am having a hard time reaching the bolt that tightens it. Under the seat there was a big kind of plastic box, and under there was a long plastic cover. I have to remove the cover to reach the bolt, but i did not understand how to remove it. the cover is in the picture with a lot of dirt on it. All help would be very appereciated! Smile

Would it be better to remove the seat ? There should only be 4 bolts, presuming the plastic thing is attatched to the seat.

For a loose handbrake I would start at the rear brakes and work towards the handbrake lever to find the fault and where to tighten it up.

thanks! i removed the seat and got down there. the right side wire is very loose and had fell out of its place. So i assume i have to tighten it, but how? i have no car working experience at all so i need some tips to get started

    If your cables have come out, they both have in your picture, then there is a fault with the callipers or the cables .
If you don’t understand how it works, and cars are not your thing, then you shouldn’t be trying to fix it ! Brakes are obviously safety critical.
I have only once had to repair one of these, when a cable got damaged by something on the road.
If you look at this picture (if I can post it) the black trigger releases the mechanism (from memory).
You shouldn’t really ever need to touch it.
I also vaguely remember it was very difficult to access & I removed the whole double passenger seat .
