[Engine] 2.0 HDi Timing Belt Change
#1
It's been a while since I sold my 2.0 Berlingo, but I now have a (ahem) Peugeot Expert 2.0 HDi that's only done about 50k miles but is coming up to 10 years old so thought I'd see about changing the timing belt. It's a slightly different engine, but am hoping there are enough similarities to glean some wisdom from those that have done theirs here.

I seem to remember stories about problems with the floating sprocket on the crankshaft. Has anyone got any tips about what to look out for?

How do I get the crankshaft bolt undone, is it practical to turn the engine on the key with a socket & breaker bar against the ground?

Thanks in advance.

lock all pulleys except crank, lock flywheel. leave all play of the belt on tensioner side and tighten crank bolt after tensioner.

Lock the flywheel. undo the bolt. Don´t use impact wrench.

I found an older thread with some helpful info..

Geoff, do you still have these images somewhere? They're not on Photobucket any more.

Thanks.

Double sided so that it can be used from both directions for undoing / doing up?
