When I switch off the engine on my van I can hear a sound in the engine bay like a small motor running, it carries on for maybe 30 seconds and then stops. It was doing it before the recent head work. Anyone know what it is, and should I be worried about it?

It's probably the vacuum pump which is used for the brakes, EGR & turbo. Nothing to worry about AFAIK.

It's normal, the butterfly motors in the air doser on the older style 1.6 HDi make noises until they are parked in the default position. My old van did it too. Like a wheeeeee rrrrr click click rrrr etc.
