BSI stands for Body Systems Interface...and it's the cornerstone of a PSA vehicles systems.

Attached is a PDF with a good PSA write up on the BSI, what it does, why and how. 

Useful for getting your head around what it really is, and how important. Not heavy with tech info, it's very readable and suitable for non-techies to give a general overview. Also gives an interesting insight into why some vehicle faults are hard to pin down in various systems and why the BSI reset is often the first port of call.
