consequence of fitting after market radio
#1
Mk 3 VTR 2008. If i change the Citroen radio to an aftermarket, since the controls to adjust the trip comp display are on the factory radio does this mean the inbuilt display in the middle of the dashboard just go black after the new radio is fitted ?, some of the info like miles left in tank I do actually find quite useful

Everything stays the same except there's no radio station displayed. My trip computer controls are on the end of a stalk and still work as normal.

I was wondering about this myself as I am thinking about fitting a double-DIN satnav/dvd player.
But how would you set the clock, that's done via the radio isn't it?

Yes it is but the clock just keeps on working with the factory fitted radio unplugged (I've tried it briefly). I will be able to tell you more info in about a week when my new radio/cd comes. It has a adapter so that the steering column control works too.

The new radio/cd has been in now for 4 days and the standard clock is displaying and keeping time normally.

That's good to know, but how will you reset the time when the clocks go forward?

I don't think I'll bother with it, the new radio displays the time anyway.

When it was time to change clock you disconnect battery on the hour and reconnect to lose or gain hour it would only have to be done every 6 months so not so bad

How does disconnecting and reconnecting the battery change the clock?
Perhaps it could be done more conveniently by removing a fuse.
