blue smoke on start-up, only after overnight. Appears fuel not oil

Blue smoke is oil, black is diesel.
Since it only happens overnight I would suggest that it is oil trickling down the valve stems overnight.

Thanks. In that circumstance would you not expect some oil consumption?

...over several thousand miles virtually nil consumed.

It doesn't take much oil to produce a puff of blue smoke.
