[Engine] Location of ECU on M59 2.0 HDi Berlingo MPV
#1
After what seems like an age I've finally tracked down a suitable Berlingo MPV. It's on a 55 plate, with 97k miles under its wheels and in tidy condition. Most importantly it has the 2.0 HDi engine I was looking for. The engine feels pretty responsive, but I'd like a little more urge and torque and was thinking about sending the ECU off to HDi Tuning. I've had a delve under the bonnet and looked inside the fuse box, and notice that the electrics in there all seem to be Siemens branded. Does this indicate the ECU is Siemens also?

I'm guessing thjat the ECU is the metal sheathed box that sits behind the fuse box up against the bulkhead on the nearside, with three very chunky looking multi-connectors plugged in. Am I correct in my assumption? If so, how difficult is it to remove?

The engine has just been fitted with the all-important timing belt and water pump, and has just had an oil and filter change. I'd like to inspect the condition of the air filter, as that always tends to get neglected in my experience. I'm guessing that's housed inside the squarish plastic box down the RH side of the engine (looking from the front of the engine) that has a substantial hose running from it? I'm asking all these questions as I don't (yet) have a Haynes manual for the car and I'm not familiar with the engines.

All comments and suggestions welcome, and glad to finally be part of the gang...

Graham

Yes ECU is covered box with 3 plugs as you say, just pulled mine out, I found I needed a flexible socket extension to get the inner wing bolt closest to the windscreen out.

Spot on with air filter as well, 4 large Phillips screws in the top to access filter if I remember right.
