My first post, and yes, I have used the search option
My Speedo and rev counter doesn’t work, everything else in the dash works fine, and I believe that Ihave to change the sensor located on the gearbox - BUT
When searching the website where I normally buy car parts, there are several options of sensors, is there a way that I can find out precisely which speed sensor to choose ?
Also, want to change oil and filters, but again, many many different oil filters to choose from, anyone knows which filter that fit my car, or can point me in the direction where I can find it myself
Btw vin nr is VF7MFKFWB65619388 if thats any help
And the car is an Berlingo 1.4 innovation from the magnificent year 2001
I tried putting this is my signature, but don’t think I managed to do this correctly
Regards, from Denmark, and sorry if my English is piss-poor, trying my best

I'd have thought that the gearbox sensor will only supply the speedo, not the rev counter, and the fault is more likely to be behind the dash, maybe a poor contact. It's not that difficult to remove the assembly/check the connectors. Needs radio removed to get to various screws.

Ooh
Clever me, didn’t think of that, will check it first thing tomorrow ?

You are not alone. Catcar does not recognise my VIN either. A problem not solved yet.
By the way, I suggest you don't make yourVIN number public - it could be used to clone your car and you might get parking tickets, speeding tickets, and worse. Only ever PM (private message) it to one of the moderators of this forum.

Thanks....
Will edit my signature right away...
Just for curiosity, why would anyone ever clone a 20 year old, unbelievable slow, vomit-green car?

Well I just tore the dash in pieces, and unplugged the speedo, and reconnected it all again, and besides a missing screw, two bleeding knuckles nothing has changed
I remember in the old days, when my golfs got the signal for the revcounter from the alternator, and the speedometer got signal with a wire from the gearbox...
Is it possible that my car gets both signals from the same sensor on gearbox ??
