My wife's tyre pressure monitors do that - the reading is only 'sampled' every few seconds - so if you change a flat tyre it still shows as flat for a while even after the wheel has been changed. Sounds a bit sophisticated for a Berlingo though! Certainly if I watch the gauge when filling up, the gauge is some way behind the filling rate - the fuel is over my shoes well before it shows full on the gauge.

I asked a friend who has a mechanically identical Peugeot Partner 2.0 HDi. His fuel gauge is the same, registers the old level for a couple of seconds before moving up. So it does have memory; I just wondered if the memory can be corrupted for a while.
