Last week I started hearing faint groaning noises whilst reversing. Its noe getting a little bit louder. Car drives spot on and no leaks that I can see. Anyone else had this?

Hi
Does it do it when standing still? If so get someone to listen around the front of car, they may be able to narrow it down for you.

Could be a bush, top mounts, or coil spring creep. Might be worth getting somewhere like kwikfit to put it on the ramp and test it. You don't have to buy anything, just a free check (don't tell them you want a free check)

Before my B9 died (currently in process of being resurrected) it had the wishbones, track rod ends, drop links and bushes changed after a groaning noise was found. Changed all that and the groan dulled down but remained. Turned out it was the top mounts.

Hi
Firstly please take care if moving the steering from side to side on basic car ramps, you could easily cause the vehicle to fall off the ramps.
Secondly: You will need two people for this test. Someone inside the car to move the steering and another person to trace the noise.
Believe or not , but it is possible to feel the noise with your fingertips. Move the steering to generate the noise, then the person outside should place their finger tips on various components in the area of the noise. They should be able to pin point the noise quite accurately by this method. I have done it numerous times.

I've had 2 broken front springs (B9) at different times, the first made a terrible noise and was undriveable, the second made an occasional minor groan/grind noise and was finally picked up on MOT.
