Hi All
The speedometer on my 2008 M59 Partner van doesn’t work, Rev counter is working, fuel and temperature gauges are working, all the lights are working, etc, just not the speedo. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated. However, this van has had a fair bit off repair work, please see below, just in case it has any bearing on a possible fault.
I have a 2008 M59 Partner van, it’s a 1.6 HDi 90bhp model with 70,000 miles. I have owned it for 17 months of which it has spent about 12 months in the local garage. About a year ago it wouldn’t start one morning, disconnect battery then reconnect it and it would fire up for a second and then stop. It would do this every time you disconnected it and reconnected it, but other than that it would just turn over. Took it to garage, no faults showing on scanner so they thought immobiliser, so they took it to Peugeot dealer, they tried new keys but still no go, back to first garage. I asked for help on here and some of you guys suggested a crank sensor fault. I bought a new crank sensor and took it to them. After they had it for about 3 or 4 months they sent me a picture of a very badly burnt out engine loom saying this was the fault (never convinced about this as I would have smelt the melted insulation, electronic technician to trade, I know what burnt insulation smells like) can’t prove anything so I bought a second hand engine loom and give it to them. Eventually get the van back in November 2020, ran great for 120 miles then the Turbo actuator fails (the old style vacuum type), no boost, buy a new one and fit it but it still doesn’t pull over. Back to the same garage. 3 weeks ago I said we were desperate for the van back as we were mental busy and that I would run it with the actuator permanently pulled back (shouldn’t I know, but needs must), picked the van up to find 2 flat rear tyres and engine bay bits in the passenger foot well, they clearly hadn’t worked on it for a while. The van was worse than in November, no speedo and engine wouldn’t Rev past 3,000rpm. Initially thought may the MAF sitting in the footwell might be causing it to go into limp mode. Got home fitted everything back on, still no difference, garage now ignoring my calls and messages asking for help. Took it to a retired chap for help, he and his son checked it over and said everything is where it is supposed to be etc, they suspected a faulty ECU. Bought a second hand ECU for it (correct model number) and fitted it. It’s now just the speedo that not working.
Can any of you guys point me in the right direction please. Any advice will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Tom
