Tinting & Solarplexius tints
#1
I recently got a 2011 Berlingo xtr and I'm setting it up for bike carrying duties so want to add some rear tints for privacy & security.

Has anyone on here used the Solarplexius tints? They looks pretty simple fitting wise just not sure how dark they are from the inside?

Alternatively in terms of standard films tints does something like a 5% tint impair visibility for parking etc at night (I live on a terrace street so there's no escaping that!) or would the next one down (20%) still provide enough privacy from prying eyes?

5% is very dark. I would think 20% would be much better.

You should be able to get some samples from them.

I have them in my Pug Expert and am quite pleased with the product.
Compared with my earlier Berlingo which I had tinted 'professionally', I think they're better than the film tint you can DIY or get done for you, but for fitting them you may need the trim around the rear side windows removed first.
They have excellent customer service, it's worth getting in touch with them, they may have an active discount code that you can use.

One thing to watch out for may be the UK VAT, best check that they take UK VAT at source.

Thanks for the replies all.

cancunia - do you have the older brown tinted ones or the newer grey tint which i think they changed a couple of years ago? Also how do you find visibility at night etc?

VAT wise it looks like this is included in the cost but I'd probably check just in case

I bought them last year, so I think it's probably the grey tint, they certainly look grey from inside & outside. I think they also do / did some kind of free return if you don't like the colour.

VAT is a big issue at the moment, if the supplier is not paying UK VAT, then the customer may have to plus an admin fee from the carrier. These come from Sweden, so worth double checking.

I asked them on chat earlier about VAT and import charges and they said there's nothing additional to the prices on their site (for now i guess!)
