Factory fitted leisure battery?
#1
Hi,
My son wants to fit a leisure battery to his camper conversion, so started to investigate it a bit.
It looks as though a lesiure battery was fitted at some point - there is a connection in engine bay bulkhead that has a cable (although cut) that seems to run under passenger seat - 2nd photo.

Is this a factory fitted leisure battery/split charger?

Any ideas where I can source similar wires with fittings?

Is it an ex motability car? We had one, it had been fitted with a hoist. The mountings had been well hidden so we didnt know about the hoist but when I wanted to fit an extra power supply in the rear i found the cable.

Hi Peter,

Not sure, it looked like a standard builder van when we got it. Ply lined and whited-out rear door windows.
Did yours look similar under the bonnet, looks more substantial that the split chargers you see on the web these days.

Cheers, Jon

More than likely something installed to power some equipment the builder used.

Perhaps it was used by one of those window cleaning guys that use the brushes on long poles where the water is carried in a gert big container and a pump to push it up to the brush head.

Ours wasnt a split charger, it was justa power cable for the hoist, the supply was taken from the fuse box under the bonnet and awsa a permanent live. When we had it I wired it to a cigar lighter socket to power a cool box
