Whilst looking for a sensible utility car we happened upon a low mileage petrol 2009 model that’s just had an engine rebuild and a new clutch.

Low mileage, 12years old, and it has had an engine rebuild and clutch swap?
(I assume the clutch swap was done at the same time as the rebuild. It's one of those jobs that is an utter pain to do separately... )

I wonder what exactly that Berlingo has been used for before.
Because an engine should last a whole lot longer than 12 years.

That's what I was wondering. My old van (20 years old, 161,000 miles) is on its original clutch and it was only last year that a major engine part (head gasket) started to fail.

Could it be that low mileage refers to the replacement engine not the old one?

Bangernomic, how's the rest of your car for wear and tear? if its first engine did a lot of miles, that should show up elsewhere.
