EOBD Emission Control warning light
#1
Hello everyone, some emergency help needed.

88,353 miles

Left home and after half a mile the EOBD warning light come on with one beep.

So straight home and searched the forum for information but cannot find anything.

Garage hoping to be able to plug it in later tonight but not definite and won't be able to work on it (if needed till next Wednesday).

On the phone they said possible fluid level (the one at the back axle).

Any ideas please.

PS should there be a metal guard along the bottom (not the sump guard) I thought there was one one from when I got the car but haven't looked since.

Had the clutch changed about a month ago

Sorry but none of this makes sense. Fluid level at the back axle?

Was there no message? If not, you need the codes read. If the garage says it could be the fluid level at the back axle, find a garage that knows what they're doing bud. That is nonsense.

Your brake fluid could be a bit low, only thing I can think of that gives a light and a single beep. But it's under the bonnet.

Thanks Zion.

The garage is one I've been using for a long time with no problems.

They managed to squeeze me in at 4-30 and hooked it up to the computer and got 3 faults, erg being one of them iirc.

They have reset the warning light and if it comes back on to get in touch. The light is the side on view of the engine and is orange.

Just did a 40 mile return journey to nottingham and no light so fingers crossed.

Whether he was thinking about the bag thats always being asked about on here or I misheard as my head has been up my xxxx with very little sleep and lots of driving, not good.

Ah ok mate I get you now.

They mean the DPF fluid bag/pouch.

Next time they read codes, ask them to write the codes down for you so you know. That way we can have a look. Could just have been something easy like brake fluid level on a slight slope etc..

Thanks. That's it..

I'll ring them later, will the codes on their computer ?

Normally I would ask for the codes but I was a so grateful they could do something and put my mind at rest and they were still finishing off other cars, and getting ready to go home, it's a two man op with an apprentice.

I did check the fluid levels I can see. When the light came on it was level ground but lots of them lumps they like to put in the road.

Thanks again for your help.

No worries, they might have made a note of the codes, worth an ask.

Spoke to the garage this evening and to ring back Tuesday and they should be able to give me the codes, I suppose it depends whether the computer saved them.

Hi there,
I gave just recently purchased this 2014 B9 van, I have a couple of issues.
The glow plug relay failed, and actually went on fire, nearly didn’t have a van. Replaced the
Relay, but looking for a new relay terminal block which sits against the engine fuse box.
Next is a fault code for the twin fan engine, puts it into limp home, I wonder what people have experienced?

The garage computer didn't save the codes.

The only one he could remember was pointing to the EGR valve whatever that does.

Light hasn't come back on since they reset it and have done over 100 miles

The EGR valve recirculates exhaust gases back into the intake to reduce NOX emissions, it also gets thick with sticky oily soot and can cause the EML to come on if the flow is not correct. That will be the problem. It still runs fine even if the EGR isn't working properly. It's a direct part of the emission control system, hence the error you got.
