[SOLVED] Won't start with remote fob (2003 2.0 HDi)
#11
An auto locksmith will be able to program a transponder to fit into the fob, they will more than likely just make a clone of the transponder chip in the ordinary key so no coding  / registering to the car will be necessary.

Yep, my local locksmith will clone a normal key for about £40 vs £20 for a new one that needs to be coded.

Took it to Timpsons, they were happy to put a new chip in the old fob, cost £30.

This got the key working and starting the car. Central locking still not looking good, need to look at it further. Might get someone to look at it, since it seems like there are quite a few things it could be. That's for another thread I suppose.

That's good news and worth knowing that Timpsons will do that.

It may be that your remote simply needs to be re-registered with the car. I can't remember the exact sequence but it goes something like..this.

Or maybe this (section 4 of the pdf)

Yeah I tried that, as did the Timpsons guy - no joy. The lights are flashing and there's a bit of noise, having looked around here I suspect BSI or solenoid issues.
