Air conditioning switch light
#1
My air con switch light is so dim I can only see it in the dark, and even then...

£30 to fix, but I'm posting here to ask if this is normal or not! No point swapping it out if the light is just that dim anyway.

I've only had it a few weeks, so it's always been dim for me.

You should be able to see it in normal light. The attached is from my 1.6HDi, but it should be the same AFAIK.

From the diagram, it looks like 2 LED's in the switch (labelled 8000) both connected to the BSI, not sure why there are 2?
If you still have the Lexia kit, you could take a look at the Aircon gas pressure, I think it's somewhere in the injection ECU.

I am beginning to suspect there are some BSI gremlins. Got trouble with the central locking relay too.

Could be. As you've probably discovered by now, there are plenty of threads on the BSI.

It's just occurred to me that one of the LEDs in the switch might be a backlight. In any case, it should be possible to test them with a meter and maybe with 12v, assuming that they run off 12v directly.

Ours is like that, a very small dim orange light at the bottom of the switch which makes it even more awkward to see. It's been like that for 8 years and I just live with it.
So where does this bit go then ?

All the switches in that row are the same basic design, just different symbols on the front and possibly different switching connections - but I bet the lighting in them is similar. You can get these switches from breakers on eBay for maybe £10-15 each, or for a set if you're lucky.

My row has a blank position and I've bought a spare switch for it, to use as an ignition kill switch.
