Hi all,
My wife has a 2008 Multispace 1.6 hdi 16 valve. it's a Berlingo M-SP VTR HDI 90 model and version 7J9HXC. So is that a B59 or a B9? We have two keys that work in the locks and ignition but the attached fob buttons don't lock or unlock the car. I have change their batteries do I need a scanner to reprogram them?

Could be either model as they overlapped at that point. (08) The fact your EGR blank caused the EML to be lit suggests it's a B9 but picture ID is the only way really (or VIN)
To resync the central locking - put a key in the ignition and turn to the second position (dash warning lights on) then hold the lock button down for 10 seconds. This will sync the remote. Switch off and try the lock/unlock function. Repeat with next key.
Now does it look like this (M59) - ignoring the fact it's a van
Or this (B9)

From the headlight shape and grills it is a B9. The plastic below the lights is a little different to the photos. I have tried the ten second button press with both the keys several times and so far not had any joy.

Does the central locking work using the key blade in the driver's door - i.e. it locks or unlocks all doors simultaneously?
If so, the comm2000 unit under the steering wheel may be faulty, it contains the antenna for the Central locking remotes. If not, the BSI may have a faulty relay or other issue, as it controls the central locking.
Did the remotes ever work? Resync should be simple if they did. Are the batteries in the right way up....you wouldn't be the first to fit them upside down.....

Yes one key worked up until a few week back the other key had a flat batter 0.2 volts when I took it out and not used for years. The central locking works on both the keys and also the button in the car and it also comes locks when driving. I have changed both key batteries and tested them before fitting with a volt meter 3.2 volts. They are plus down in the case that they clip into as should be, the other way up the minus side could not make any contact at all. Pity that they do not have a indicator light. On some remotes (I know BMW do) their rolling memory can get full and there is a way to clear it, is this the case with Citroen remotes?

Not that I know of. Ok so are they good batteries from a supermarket or pound shop ones? Someone else here bought "new" batteries cheap and they turned out to be duds. New Duracell's sorted it.

They were good as far as I could tell Hitachi so not cheap but not duracell. Could sill be fake I did volt test them and the use by date was 2030. I will take one out and volt test it again. See if I can set it up so I can test the volt drop when a button is pressed.

You can try the old BSI reset. Could maybe sort it out.

After testing the fobs if they seem to be transmitting I will give the BSI another go at a reboot. Really need to get them tested properly on a reader.

Yeah that would prove if they are transmitting. If they were then the BSI would read them, but the comm2000 controller under the steering wheel has the antenna and receiver for the signal, it then passes the extracted code to the BSI. It might be faulty. This is not the first time someone had the exact same issue and never got to the bottom of it.
The comm2000 can be swapped without coding. Worth keeping in mind.
