Save me ripping all the dash apart, does anyone recognise/know of a permanent live(when ignition switched on) that I can tap into to feed a device(couple of amps max) in the rear of the van. Everything that goes rear of the seats is lights etc and its all boarded out.

Your simplest bet is the cigar lighter in the front cabin. Just route a cable from its underside under the trim to the back. Already fused, little used otherwise, etc.

The cigarette lighter in a M49 is not controlled by the ignition switch.
At least not the older versions. (Mine is a 1999. It's possible they changed this in 2000?)
I'm looking for a good one myself, because I'm going to fit a 12V and dual USB in the glove compartment in my M49, and want it switched.
(One of the USB ports will be used for Dashcam)

Yep. I thought interior light but its probably controlled direct from the ECU/modules so the 12v would go off when the timer/delay reacts. The ciggy socket it is then; just had a look online and it seems to be a 30amp,and as you say, little used so plenty of power.

On one of my older berlingos the cigarette lighter feed was either ignition on or off depending where the shunt fuse NO 23 was positioned

The cigarette lighter is 10A. On BSI equipped models it should go off with the ignition or at very least the eco mode (20 mins delay). My old M59 12v socket went off with the keys as I had my dash cam on it, same as I do now in the B9.

If you have a towbar fitted you could take a supply from the feed already run to relay for the socket electrics

10amp sounds a bit more realistic than 30. I have looked at so many different variations of fuse/relay boxes for these cars. Mines an M59 Face-lift not a 49 as I originally thought and the engine fuse box looks nothing like anything on any schematics I can find. It really WOULD help if PSA put the fuse allocations on the plastic lid as other manufacturers do so you can find your fuse regardless of the box layout. And yep, it goes off with the ignition.
