my berlingo has been great for a while now till today, parked up for 40 min listening to the radio, when i started it the wipers came on
then the dash started beeping and the lights where going on and off.
the dash dies, no speedo etc
out side of the car the headlights go on and off at the same time, intermittent indicators,

even with the keys out it still does it.
almost like you are turning the ignition on and off

way past my wits end now.

any idea what it could be??

I'm quite new to looking into Berlingo issues but it sounds like you need to reset the BSI. I'm amazed that you could have the radio on for 40 minutes my one turns everything off and goes into eco mode well before that.

They put the lights and wipers on when the battery is critically low. Try putting it on a charger, you could need a new battery. Had this before myself and a new battery was needed. Jump starting only worked for a bit.

Disconnecting the battery alone doesn't reset the BSI. There's a procedure to follow to reboot it properly.

so as soon as i reconnect the battery the headlights are stuck on full and the wipers start up, the STOP light is flashing.

impossible to do a bsi reset

Have you tried disconnecting the radio? When I bought my M49 van new, back in 2001, it had a habit of the radio/cassette-player draining the battery overnight, something that only stopped happening when I stopped using the radio/cassette player (even replacing the BSI didn't have an effect). Maybe some of these vehicles have a temperamental battery-radio relationship?

Ok so maybe a bit of a slim chance, but check all of the fuses in the engine bay box, including the MF fuses in the tray under the main one. And the coloured blocks on the big connection plate under the red cover over the positive terminal, those are fuses too. Make sure all the bolt connectors on that plate are tight.

Ideally a code scan would be good but it looks like the BSI "thinks" the battery is low. Something could be loose or blown.

Is it possible water has gotten into the BSI? It is a known issue on some cars. Being as it's above the pedals in the M59 and if there's been a bit of water getting in via the windscreen seal or sunroof etc.
