Quite understood ta, but good data packets can. What if that one data packet is good but 'flashing' between on and off good states because of a fault earlier in the chain? Would the BSI detect that as a fault in itself even though the data signal meets acceptable standards, and prevent or otherwise modify it?

Not sure. The led is really one way data, send and forget as far as the BSI is concerned I expect, no feedback on whether it's lit, or not. Only the human knows.

Sorry to be overly pedantic, just trying to be helpful. I'll jut say that the fault could be elsewhere or it could be in the cluster, without discussing relative likelihoods.
