Retrofit a CD player

Just bought a Nov 1968 registered Berlingo Flair. Want to continue playing CDs in car. Has anyone experience of getting a CD fitted if so anything you can share about that? (I have an Apple disc drive but of course power to it comes via my laptop. I don't want to digitalise all music and use Apple Play - though I have made that work. I live in SE London. Thanks!!

Even 1986 which is almost old enough to be using an 8 track...

Anyways, you can probably upgrade the radio from a Cassette player to one with a CD player. An RD3 will probably fit, but will need coding to your VIN. Many sellers will do this for you.

Usb cd drives don't work as media players since they don't decode the data stream, just send it to the main device and it does the decoding. I expect the usb input on the Berlingo can't do it this way either. But if you had usb, you likely have a slot drive cd player already in the car.

From David's first thread, it's a 2018 so a late B9. Should have a CD player already?

WHOOPS! Did I say 1968! So sorry - meant to say 2018! Now I get the split screen comment - and the indicators flick up from the door frame + I have to stick my arm out to indicate!! etc. No it doesn't have a CD player though.
It seems that some USB CD players may work just by plugging in but not all are compatible - I think its about Zion's point about data or data files.
Need to investigate further.

I have seen this issue on Honda forums and people have solved it with USB drives. Not all work but when you find one that does (more expensive and sold as in car player) seach for the same generic one from other sellers for a fraction of the price.

Get an old Sony Discman and hook it to the Ext input?

Replacing the stereo in your car is somewhat of a pain as I understand it, so if it doesn't have an Ext input, or a CD-playr hidden behind a hinged front panel, you're pretty much stuck.
