Heavy Power Steering 2003 2.0Hdi

Hi
Sorry if the answer is somewhere but I can’t locate it

So I’ve always had a weird notchy feel on left hand bends but I’ve just lived with it for ever without issues, but now the steering is heavy as hell but still has some power to it, fluid is all good so I’m wondering, Will it be the pump on its last legs

TIA

If it is ! Where’s the best place to buy one from

Many thanks

Have you checked the universal joint at the bottom of the steering rack they tend to dry out. you can get to it down the back of the engine and spraying with a soft grease like chain grease or white grease.
Are we there yet????? Huh
Ex 1.6hdi van now 3 seater 1.4 multispace

It's a fairly common problem with that joint. You can clean the old gunk out of the joint first with something like WD40 then use chain grease. Best with both wheels off the ground and then move steering left & right to work it through.
