We have a M59 and B9, both are 1.6 HDi vans. Unfortunately my M59 got hit by a truck, so the insurance company have given me a rented 2018 Peugeot Expert 1.6 Blue HDi to use until my replacement vehicle is ready.
It been fine and drives well, yesterday afternoon I drove it home, and the mileage clocked up to 40,000 miles en route, no warning lights on, no messages on the central multifunction display, no temperature issues, no odd noises, etc. When I when out last night, it started fine, just the usual ignition lights, all went off as normal, but the van is in limp mode, it will not Rev above 3,000 rpm and even below 3,000 rpm it does feel like the fuel is being slightly restricted to reduce power. Tried stopping and starting it back up, still the same, so went home and parked up. This morning I topped up the Adblue (just in case) despite there being no warning or messages, I did this as I read last night that if you run out of Adblue it will put you van into limp mode, it required about 7 litres to fill it up. Still in limp mode and still no warning lights or messages.
I know it’s an Expert and not a Berlingo or Partner, but I am hoping you guys with the newer engines (same as the Expert / Dispatch) or maybe knowledge of them might be able to help. I know it’s not my problem as it is only a temporary rental van from the insurers, but if there is something fairly easy I can try then it’s better and less hassle for me and them, any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Cancunia
My Son is bringing our OBD Port reader over later this morning. I will see what errors or faults it’s showing, hopefully it might just need something clearing down.

You don't need to test for the MAF just disconnect it. Ours ran better straight away. If it's a renter take it back and let them sort it with a new MAF. I tried cleaning ours but it had to be replaced before it would run nicely again but running without it caused no problems. Does adding adblue need to be registered on the BSI to clear the limp mode.
So where does this bit go then ?

Thanks again
The mystery deepens to be honest. Went out to the van before my done got over, started it up, no issues, drove it up the road for a few hundred yards and back no problem. Son arrived, checked for errors, non showing and non stored. Drove 1/2 mile down the road to a T-Junction, pulled out in 1st gear with no issues, changed into 2nd gear and went straight back into limp mode. Drove to where we were heading (5 miles in limp mode) with no warning messages or lamps showing. Tried the OBD-2 scanner, no faults listed, stored or pending. Turned engine back off. Turned engine back on again, out of limp mode and running normal. Turned engine back off, and then back on and straight back into limp mode, again no warning message or lamps. Turned engine off and sent to fix what we went to fix. Turn engine on and it was fine again, drove to next site (2 miles away) and all was normal. On site for about 30 minutes and started van up, still good. Since then it has driven about 25 miles with 2 stop and starts with no issues. OBD-2 scanner still can’t see any glitches, and the van dash and display show no faults, but van is driving normally again.
I am thinking that maybe the Adblue had run out, despite no low level or empty warning being given (perhaps faulty level sensor), it took a good 7 or 8 litres to top up (don’t know how much it holds). Maybe it takes a good few miles for the Adblue to work it’s way back through the pipes / tubes. Maybe it needed a good 10 miles or so to get the Adblue into the system again, don’t know if it’s injected into the exhaust or dripped in / sucked in.
So at the moment it is running again. If it starts playing up again I will be contacting the insurance company for them to sort out either a replacement hire / rental van, or for them to book it in somewhere local to get looked at.
