Central Locking Problem
#11
Does the key fob start the van, or is it only the spare?

Maybe I'm missing something, if so apologies.

If you've just bought the car / van from a dealer you have a right of return, so they'll probably be keen to fix it for no charge. The longer you leave it, the more inclined they'll be to say it happened after you bought it.

I'll get my coat Wink

Plenty of stuff on here about key issues search for it and read up on the subject.

Yup the key with the dodgy fob starts the engine no problem.

Look up pairing procedures on this forum - I think you just turn on the ignition then hold the lock button on the key for 10 seconds.

It's a long shot though because I don't think you can re-use fobs that have already been done.

Otherwise I'd get it back to the dealer, you're still within the window, they should be able to sort it.

Ok cool, I'll try that in the morning. If it doesn't work I'll contact the dealer and see what they're willing to do for me.

Nope, not a thing.

The spare key fob I got doesn’t have a circuit in it, so the fob obviously isn’t going to work on that one either. But the spare does lock/unlock all the doors when I put the key in the drivers door lock. So does that suggest there’s not a problem with the central locking if it is working manually?

If your other key works in the drivers door it sounds like the car is alright just a faulty fob. If you look at the spare key next to the blade there is a square insert which is where the transponder is. This communicates a code with the car BSI which activates the locks and the immobiliser.
So where does this bit go then ?
