Hope I've got the right thread here, posted on the intro forum that just bought a new 2021 XTR, ordered 2020. I need to confirm certain spec before formally accepting the car. Now find the spec has changed and Modtop among other things are extra. Key to purchase was the satnav system with SOS connect. Now find it's an option, and satnav has to be used with smartphone. Due to fact fingers don't work well, smart phones, even if I had one, are useless to me. According to their bumf:-

"To use the Real Time Traffic services in a vehicle not equipped with the connect SOS & ASSISTANCE SERVICE, it must be paired with the customer's Smartphone, which shares its internet connection. The connection sharing of the customer's smartphone must be activated".

Does anyone know anything about these that's helpful, it seems I wont even be able to use the sat nav without a phone paired to it. any advice appreciated, Thanks.

The Sat Nav system does not require a phone to be connected. Only the full screen model without the sat nav requires a phone to run a mirrored phone navigation app. Don't know about the SOS connect but I could see a dumbphone with Bluetooth and internet (such as KaiOS based phones) work as well.

If the spec you ordered has built in navigation and the Modutop, then the car should have these. It's not your fault the specs changed. Im amazed the XTR doesn't have Nav as standard.

My previous car required my smart phone to be plugged in and it was a pain. Always disconnecting on a motorway and glitchy. The built in Nav on my 2019 Berlingo is excellent on the large screen with additional images for turns etc on the display behind the steering wheel. Well worth getting.

XTR is just a design package nowdays. Nothing else fundamental.

Wish it were that simple, The spec was wrong when the car was delivered a week ago, I wont drive it until I can accept what I have, or haven't in this case, got. To do so may indicate acceptance. My understanding of consumer law is goods delivered from on line ordering, you have two weeks to reject. This has come about due to someone along the line decided you'll get our 'latest' 'deficient' spec, not 2020's spec that you ordered, and it's taken six months to get this car from order.

Though I haven't been charged for the missing items. Yes I could ask the dealer to collect the car as it does not meet with my original order, but lives to short to drag this out. I am disappointed with the dealer and Citroen, both share a responsibility to supply whats asked for. I'v asked the dealer to come up with an answer, if they cant, then I will have to make a decision whether to reject and start again.

I'v inquired on this and been assured by the dealer the sat nav is fitted but requires 'registering' and the app setting up via a smart phone, my fear was just what you say about having to use a phone plugged in to get it to work, and using mobile data charges to boot.

Thanks boop, couple of things there, what's 'full screen model' do you mean 8"? I think I know what you mean on mirrored app, using a smart phone to project to the screen? I'm told the SOS will work without any phone, 3 years subscription apparently. No idea what your talking about with the dumb phone or Ka internet operating system though.

Yes, I mean the 8", not the little dot matrix screen (housed in the half height pod).

By mirroring I mean Android Auto or Apple Carplay via wired or wireless (via accessory adapter) connection.

By dumb phone I mean the modern button operated candybar or flip phones with some smart internet features such as e-mail, Facebook and Whatsapp but the social features are almost unusable. KaiOS is usually the operating system of choice for those, buggy crap. But the idea is that if your head unit requires internet connection you can use these phones as hotspot.

I just looked at the Citroen configurator and XTR models come with standard sat-nav and connect services. Glass roof is extra. Can't comment on 2020 spec but I doubt if glass roof has ever been standard unless it was part of a special offer. You should surely have received a full list of what's included in your order when you made said order?
