Paint Peeling - Delamination
#21
Brief Update.

The ombudsman adjudication has found that Citroen are not in breach of their Code of Practice and that the offer of 20% contribution is fair. The burden of proof lies with me to prove a manufacturing defect that fails to meet the requirements of the Citroen warranty.
A total waste of time, as the ombudsman just accepted their statement without asking for a copy of the paint Inspection report OR asking for any reasonable other explanation for the catastrophic paint failure.

I have sourced an independent vehicle report by a qualified technician. His report, supported by a forensic metallurgist, confirms that the paint failure is a result of White Rust, being a corrosion product of zinc. The technician has stated that the most likely cause is a production issue and that the vehicle is not fit for purpose. He supports a claim for £5,100.

There is a lot more in the report, to substantiate all of the above.

I have now issued a claim through the Small Courts and Citroen have until 20th September to reply.

Are there any ombudsman that protect the consumer rather than the corporation?

Thumbs Up
VICTORY

Citroen UK decided to settle the claim prior to going to court. They have paid the full amount of the claim £5k + costs. Money arrived in the bank yesterday.

Many thanks to all the support and oilyrag, in particular, for the excellent advice.

If anyone needs a copy of my claim process or the paint report, please get in touch.

Heart to all.

Absolutely delighted for you Shay - I know too well that it's something of a stressful process, even though you'd not much to lose in making the claim. But what a great and much deserved result .

Initially I got one panel resprayed for about £200 but took it to the jetwash last week and on the other side the paint flaked off and it looks terrible. We're reluctant to get it done again until we come to sell it, as we need to strip off the logos first so no point in doing this until we are ready to sell. But then again the longer we leave it the more paint that will come off. The bodywork shop said we can put some radiator paint on it to stop it peeling further. I wonder if our van is from the same batch that are having this problem. We are the 3rd owners of this vehicle, do you think we have any chance of putting in a claim against Citroen too?

Hi there,
I also have a peugeot partner 2011 and is peeling off everywhere, i am desperate as the van would be still good otherwise. Found this forum helpfull.

Thanks all

Well done Shay for your perseverance.

I'm planning to go down the same route myself as Dealership simply brushed it off as 3 year paint warranty.

Their paint expert clearly knew the problem but was prevented from telling me the truth due to their company policy.

The paint is fine ...... it's just NOT attached to the metalwork

Hi all, sorry to bump the thread but I too am having this issue! Citroen have point blank refused it's anything to do with them. It has been in today for a report via the garage I bought it from but they won't even do that. I have asked to have it in writing that they're not interested but refusing that too!
It is a 2015 Berlingo Enterprise.

Any suggestions gratfully received.
