Great fun, and an inspiration to see it done with interest by someone like this.

But why does Bertie the Blingo make the odd approving grunt in the background almost as if he's her 's 'fella' - or even dad?

She'll be designing and building her own house very soon.

This is a good bed design. I was thinking kind of along thise lines but fitted higher up to allow for more storage ans a slide out camp kitchen unit in the boot.

At campsite the other day I saw a roof tent attached to roof bars on a Honda civic with a drop down ladder from the side. Only seen these on 4wd before. Thought It would work really well on a Berlingo / Partner. Retails at nearly £1000 apparently though

There are light weight roof top tents but many can quite heavy. The first thing to do is check what weight the roof/bars etc on the car can take. Some of the prices can be eye watering as well.
I've used them or years but never on a normal saloon car, though I have seen them on many models. Also mounted on expedition trailers.
Disadvantages include fuel consumption and mounting and dismounting onto the top of the car depending on whether to leave it on all year, only in the summer months or every time you'd use it.

The OEM roof bars on the B9 are rated to 75kg maximum load. The centre area of the roof is like tinfoil and dents very very easily if pressed anywhere between the internal braces.

Aftermarket roof rails are more like 35kg.

My Thule set can carry 40Kg.
I wonder if one of those tents can be combined with a sunroof...
Just cut a hole in the bottom of the tent, and install a spiral staircase in the back of the Berlingo. Or a ladder or something if you're an uncultured...
Kitchen and livingroom downstairs, bedroom upstairs...

This could be good with some of the early M49 having full length webasto. Straight up through the roof of the car into the sleeping area :-)

I did mention it's best to check the weight but it later came to me that even though you won't be moving, having two of you in it at night will add up the kilos. Not sure at all how that affects things when putting an RTT on a normal car.
As for heating, I have seen one of the Chinese standalone heaters sitting on the roof rack with the pipe fed into the tent.
