al4 gearbox 05ff and gearbox trouble after driving for 45-50min
#1
i have a ghost problem with my 2012 partner, i belive it is a problem with the BSI, i have a 05ff
(unexpected re-initialisation fault coming from the BSI).
But it is manifestic itself in troubles with the manual-automatic gearbox, when i drive the car for shorter trips, it is behaving perfectly, but as soon as i have driven it for a while 45min-60min and sometimes over, the servicelamp "gearbox fault repair needed" shows up.
the car goes in limp mode or something, the sign for automatic goes away, and it goes i manuall. If i go to 3.d gear it will not shift to 4.th
One time this happened i turned of the car and switched back and forth from manuall to automatic, and then the foult suddenly dissapared... (this may have been a coinsidence).
Any idea to where i could look for the foult? i have ordered the lexia-thingy [Image: 1f609.png]

Iknow it sounds weird, but i used the sigarette lighter output to charge a phone one time this happened...

I did read a thread somewere were there was some similar problem, but i can not find it again, neither were there a conclusibe answer i belive.

Any tech-heads with ideas of what the issue could be?

Hi all, I am reading this thread with interest, I have owned an auto Berlingo van 2014 plate for several years now. I have had the exact same problem for a couple of years now. Journeys of under an hour run with no problems. Any journey over roughly an hour and the warning signal "gearbox fault repair needed" appears and the drive can only be operated in manual, and only gear 1-3 can be used. I have never invested money into having this fault diagnosed as I only use the van on a daily basis for 30 min drives max. Last week I travelled a distance of 130 miles, and as expected this fault triggered at around an hour into my journey. I am interested to know if anyone out there has ever resolved this issue.

Are these the same as the older AL04 gearboxes?
If yes, these were prone to failure of the electrovalves. Quite a few posts around the web. What you are both describing seems like overheating. If I were you I would check the level of the oil in the gearbox, although a bit more complex in the auto ones as compared to the manual, e.g. the oil needs to be at specific temperature for it to be accurate.
