Back Again

Hi
Have been off the Forum for a while. Sold my 2013 XTR last year..Bit of a mistake as I spent a fortune putting it right. Looking around the Glasgow Gumtree yesterday spotted a similar XTR 2013 for sale..
It has AirCon Roof Rails and the Centre Console plus a couple of extras. None of which my previous Berlingo had. The mileage was high at 219000 however in the description it had Timing belt replaced at 110000 and new clutch at 189000. Service book stamped up till March this year and Mot till next March. Guy was looking for £2000 went to look at it this afternoon had a drive, didn’t throw up any surprises engine sounded nice and tight and it pulled well. Checked over the bodywork has a dent in the near side front wing and a scrape on the offside wing. Door trim a bit loose on the passenger side but I have the clips to fix that. Ended up paying £1750, it’s got the high mileage but I’m not I worried about that. Will do an oil and filter change this weekend. Even though it had been done a couple of months ago. I like to be sure ?

Welcome back!

You might want to think about getting the timing belt changed again.

Thanks
Didn’t read the description properly. Seems like the Timing Belt was done at 189000. Assumed it was the Clutch. That being the case I’m wondering if that’s the second timing belt change in the Cars history . Will book it in to have a look as their was no mention of the Water Pump being changed. Drove the Car home last night about 30 mile journey from where I bought it. No issues no unusual noises. Went to do some shopping this mor Ning drove about 3 miles and the engine management light came on. Didn’t go into limp mode and no unusual noises etc. The Guy I bought it from told he hadn’t used it for a while,I’m wondering if the journey home might have loosened something up EGR ?

If your timing belt only has 30k it's probably fine. Personally, I'd be tempted to leave the water pump as-is & keep an eye/ear on it, if it goes wrong, you'll probably hear it or start losing water first before major trouble. Others may have a different view.

As for the EML, you need a code reader to be sure.

They are normally fine. I've not bought one for a couple of years so someone else may be able to recommend one. I think a search on here will probably show up a couple.

Picked one up for about £15 on Amazon. It’s the Orange one with the ODB2 cable attached. Tells me I have code P3008 which seems to be Mass Air Flow high. I guess the EGR valve needs cleaning. I’ve reset the Code after about 3 days of driving it comes back same code. Have reset again, but I expect until I fix the EGR it will keep coming back.
