Clutch humped
#1
Clutch pedal doesn’t return. Noise when releasing the clutch pedal. It now raises to lower than the brake pedal. No noise when depressed.

Slave cylinder? If so wheres it located?

On my B9 its directly below the turbo on the front of the engine. Two bolts holding it in .

The brake fluid tank also supplies fluid to the clutch pedal.

Some have it built into the clutch mechanism and the g/box (I think ) needs to come out.

Found it where you mentioned. Brake fluid reservoir looks bone dry. Kinda glad it’s that that’s went and not the brakes.

How much of a pig of a job is it to replace and sort out? Not a bad price for a EuroCarParts one, dread to think what the dealer price would be. Is it just a matter of the slave cylinder alone or are there other things to do during this? (Is it a home or garage job?) Smile

Can lift the clutch pedal back up with putting my foot under but still no drive and don’t fancy trying it too often in case it makes it worse.

After spending more time looking and less time shouting it seems that it’s nice clutch time. Urghh. £98.99 from EuroCarParts with code Goal45. How many hours on a 1.6 HDI 92bhp 9HP with DPF to change the clutch roughly?

What quotes for parts have people had from the dealers for the clutch needed in this car compared EuroCarParts and GSF? Should I expect to vent over a barrel with this? Don’t fancy having the car off the road for any length of time, I’ve just had the engine rebuild pffffft.

Should’ve known though. There was a grinding/knocking noise after the engine rebuild when I depressed the clutch pedal. Never thought anything of it after being told not to worry so kinda had an inclining that the clutch would be my next victim.

Zion had a thread about getting his clutch changed, I think it was about £450 ?

If its only the slave cylinder then its a easy job as you can see yours. Do it yourself.

If the grinding noise is coming from inside the clutch then most likely the clutch pressure plate fingers/release bearing are worn and when pressing the clutch the clutch release bearing has got stuck in the worn fingers.

New clutch needed as you thought .

Any recommendations for clutch kits? Before I order this Transmech or are they all the same? Not wanting to fork out for something that’s gonna be like butter.

I genuinely don’t know if it DMF or solid. Can’t find the flywheel on catcar.info and EuroCarParts is showing dual and solid variants are available.
