Newbie - How do I tell which 1.6HDi the car has ?

So, I'm trying to buy a Berlingo and because I have a house in Bristol and a place on the Isle of Harris (2500km round trip) I need good motorway cruising, so a 120bhp would be best, how do I know which engine is in the car when the ad states 1.6 diesel ???? 

Is there a giveaway ? Something on the vehicle search on DVLA ? Most people don't seem to know when I ask them !

It will say on the logbook. For example on my logbook it says 68kw this equals approx 91 hp.  82kw equals approx 110hp and 56kw equals approx 75hp. I hope this helps you

why not put the registration plate into something like ASKMID - it'll tell you the details there or even search for its last MOT online

Just for info, my Blue HDI 100 cruises happily at the legal 70mph motorway limit in top (5th) gear at about 2300 rpm. It will actually maintain 85mph quite happily and doesn't struggle when loaded or on hills. I believe all the 120's have 6 gears which probably allows cruising at lower (quieter) rpm.
But don't rule out the 100PS for your long journeys.
