Electrical Issues
#1
Hi there, I have a 2000 (Mk1) 1.9d Berlingo and, after doing a couple of things to my car at the weekend before I sell it, appear to have created an issue elsewhere.

My airbag light was flashing intermittently all the time so in an attempt to stop this I disconnected the battery (both terminals) and after reconnecting it my front windscreen washer doesn't work. It makes no noise either but all the wipers functions are fine. What's more the airbag light is still flashing and now when I turn on the ignition not all the warning lights light up. The oil and handbrake and door lights all work but the other 2/3 don't - ie no diesel preheating light, and whichever other lights normally come on before starting.

Can anyone help please? I have checked the Shunt fuse in position 14 under the bonnet but that seems fine.

Hi, can you give me your Rpo No. and tell me the type of engine you have so I can look it up in the diagrams.

It's a 1.9 DW engine and I'm not sure which one is the RPO number but the sticker says:
08758FV
10712
KMHC

Thanks.

Hi, firstly try a Bsi reset ( http://www.bba-reman.com/content.aspx?co...ot_process ) I'm not sure if yours has got one but it won't do any harm to try.
Check your engine & chassis earth from the battery.
There seems to be a lot faults to be associated with just a battery disconnect.
Weird symtoms usually relate to the Bsi not being correctly booted up.
Have you got abs brakes?
Let me know how you get on. Confusedalut:

Tried the bsi reset but nothing has changed! Don't have abs.
Will check the earths tomorrow unless there's anything else it could be?

Hi, More questions -
Does the engine turn over / start?

When you activate the washer do the the wipers come on & do a few strokes then park?

Does the alternator battery light come on with ignition?

Re air bag light - To be safe - Do a BSI shut down procedure and discnnect battery.
Under each of the seats there is a brown connector with 2 orange wires. These go to the seat belt pre tensioners. Unplug these and reconnect.
On the passenger one you might have to take off the plastic cover on the seat base.
See if this clears the air bag light fault.

I would also check all fuses in engine bay box and fuse box under the steering wheel.
Let me know how you get on. Confusedalut:
