[Warning Light] ABS warning light - possible broken cable???
#11
@djewen long time no see! I don't understand how these wires are getting damaged inside the Kopex protective tube. Weird.

Hello mate! I know… kids! Never have time for much these days.

I know, strange. Certainly in this case the zip tie clip was overly tight to the point it had kinkef the cables inside, that combined with a bit of thermal expansion and contraction over the years and the failed section of cable certainly seemed to be suffering from some form of embrittlement leading to the failure of the sheath and ultimate water ingress.

If you get the rear left ABS issue and your sensor checks out, I’ll bet you find the problem there.

For sure. 3 out of 3 so far. No way it's coincidence.

Hi all new on here. I got a 2013 1.6 berlingo van. I got an ABS system fault code up.
When I ask the local mechanic he checked it and it's RH front speed sensor. No bother to fix next week. But all of a sudden the fan is also staying on after I turn off the van. Would this be connected.
It's let's say not the DPF. As that was an issue before but sorted. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you switch the engine off when the vehicle is in the middle of a regeneration of the DPF, then the fans will run for ages to cool down the DPF itself as it's to the front of the engine on these, and not underneath.

It is the DPF, but that's normal behaviour.

Just noticed this thread, I've seen wiring damage like this quite often in the past, in a different environment but with the same results either broken or chafing wiring that is shorting out causing all sorts of weird faults/indications. In virtually all the cases it was due to ingress or water and/or dirt into the flexi conduit that either in the case of water, freezes and the combination of that plus vibration causes wiring damage or with a build up of dirt plus moisture makes a nice 'grinding paste' that eventually wears out the out cable shield and causes shorting or breaks. Oh, I forgot to say what environment I've seen this in many times before, it is on modern airliners where these kind of flexi-conduits are quite often used in the un-pressurised areas the help protect cables.

Thanks Benwalk15, had same fault on my 2016 multispace. Garage replaced NSR ABS sensor, fault still there. Informed them of your post here, they checked and found cable damage. Fault now repaired. They were talking about having to replace other expensive parts so thanks again. Smile

Here was the culprit:

Many thanks. I have just sorted a friends B9 ABS problems. Went down the same route, then found your post. Lo and behold, broken wire a bit further up than yours. Saved me hours of stripping out and testing.
